Y’s Men International Centennial Celebration

Taiwan, situated in East Asia, a northwest island in the Pacific Ocean, is located between the Ryukyu Islands and the Philippine Islands. Once it was called “Ilha Formosa,” a beautiful island, by Portuguese sailors because of its magnificent scenery.

In Taiwan, Greater Taipei Metropolitan Area consists of Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Keelung City. Within this diversified area, there are airports, harbors, convenient public transport of Metros and Buses, numerous tourist hotels, exhibition centers, performing art centers, museums, and various religion centers, night markets and gourmet food. Furthermore, Taipei City is the capital of Taiwan, and has been the center of politics, economics, and culture for 70 years. It hosts a great deal of Trade Fairs, Computex Taipei, and international conferences and so on. Briefly, Taipei City is a very friendly place, and so are other cities in Taiwan.

It has been 67 years in Taiwan since the first international Y’s Men’s Club, Taipei Alpha, was chartered in 1955. And now, there are 25 Clubs with about 550 Y’s members in the Taiwan Region. In August 2011, the 24th Asia Area Convention with the theme of “nature, culture, and future” was sponsored by the Taiwan Region in Silks Place in Yilan County. There were over 700 Y’s members and Menette’s together with 120 Y’slings attending the Convention. And more, in August 2016, the 72nd International Convention with the theme of “Living in Harmony” was sponsored by Taiwan Region again in Grand Hotel Ball Room and EXPO Dome Hall in Taipei City. There were 774 participants from 34 countries and 100 youths attending this Convention. The favorable comments on IC2016 were received and passed on by word of mouth.

The 100-year Centennial Celebration for Y’s Men International (YMI) is scheduled in March 10-12, 2023. Grand Hyatt Taipei is chosen as the Convention venue. The hotel is located next to the highest tower Taipei 101, with City Government, City Council, and National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall in the front, and International Convention Center and Exhibition Halls behind. This venue features more than 10 conference or banquet rooms and 850 guest rooms and/or suites. It’s also conveniently placed in the center of Taipei as it’s only a 45-minute drive from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), or a 10-minute drive from Songshan Airport (TSA), and Metro Blue Line and Red Line are nearby.

We believe and hope that the image and familiarity of YMI will be promoted in Taiwan, and the recognition of Taiwan will be up in the world as well by holding the 100-year Centennial Celebration. We are honored to take this opportunity to cherish the memory of our founder’s and all other Y’s predecessors’ efforts and contributions with Y’s families in the world. On behalf of YMI, Taiwan Region, we are ready! And yes, we are looking forward to seeing your actual/physical participation in the Centennial Celebration in Taiwan.

See you soon!
